Accord Worldwide is preparing a proposal for a 10-day consultancy focused on gender mainstreaming training. We are seeking to identify and include qualified experts from among registered members in our proposal team.

About the Assignment

Accord Worldwide, Inc. is seeking a qualified Gender Training Specialist to support an upcoming assignment. The consultancy focuses on the design and delivery of a three-day in-person gender training workshop targeting participants from Jordan. The assignment will contribute to strengthening gender integration across programme implementation through practical, context-specific capacity building.


Objectives of the Consultancy

The selected consultant will:

  • Strengthen participants’ understanding of core and advanced gender concepts
  • Build capacity to mainstream gender into agricultural livelihoods, decent work, and child labour programming
  • Support the practical application of an existing gender action plan
  • Deliver engaging, participatory, and contextually relevant training

Scope of Work

1. Training Design and Preparation

  • Review relevant project documentation (logframe, indicators, gender analysis, action plan)
  • Develop a detailed three-day training agenda
  • Prepare training materials including:
    • Presentations
    • Case studies
    • Participatory exercises
  • Adapt content to the rural agricultural and child labour context in Jordan
  • Submit materials to the client for review prior to delivery

2. Training Delivery (3 Days, In-Person)

The training will be delivered in Amman (or nearby central locations) using interactive and participatory methodologies.

Tentative Agenda:

Day 1: Foundations of Gender in Humanitarian & Development Contexts

  • Core gender concepts (gender vs sex, norms, power relations, intersectionality)
  • Gender in legal aid and protection programming
  • Gender roles in agriculture and rural livelihoods
  • Risks for women agricultural workers and children in labour

Day 2: Gender Mainstreaming Basics

  • Key concepts: gender equality, equity, mainstreaming
  • Gender continuum (blind → transformative)
  • Gender in humanitarian programming
  • Minimum standards and institutional approaches

Day 3: Applied Gender Mainstreaming

  • Review and assess the Gender Action Plan
  • Identify implementation gaps and challenges
  • Develop practical recommendations for integration into programme activities, indicators, and monitoring frameworks

Each training day must include:

  • Clear learning objectives
  • Group work and interactive exercises
  • Contextualized case studies
  • Reflection sessions
  • Pre- and post-assessment tools

3. Documentation

  • Final training materials (PPTs, exercises, handouts)
  • A brief post-training report (5–10 pages) including:
    • Summary of sessions
    • Participant feedback
    • Key observations
    • Recommendations for improved gender integration

Deliverables

  • Detailed 3-day training agenda
  • Complete training package
  • Delivery of 3 full training days
  • Final report with recommendations

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience delivering gender training in humanitarian and/or development contexts
  • Proven experience in:
    • Gender mainstreaming in livelihoods, agriculture, or economic empowerment programmes
    • Facilitating participatory training methodologies
  • Experience working in Jordan or similar contexts
  • Fluency in English and Arabic

Institutional Arrangements

  • The consultant will report to the Consortium Manager and coordinate closely with programme and technical teams from the client
  • The assignment will be primarily in-country (Jordan) with:
    • Training delivery in Amman
    • Possible field engagement in Irbid and Mafraq
  • The consultant is responsible for:
    • Travel and accommodation arrangements
    • Equipment and logistics
    • Insurance coverage
